Stephen I. Beck practices family law in the Regions of Peel, Halton and the Greater Toronto Area.  He helps his clients get through the difficulty of dealing with family law issues in a relaxing and stress-free setting.  Stephen's main focus is to attempt to resolve issues with as little conflict as possible to achieve the best result for his clients.

Stephen's assistant, Georgia Hughes, has been working in the family law field for approximately 25 years.

Our office is located in Mississauga.  We have a full range of lawyers who share space with us dealing in real estate, corporate, criminal, litigation and wills and estate law.  If you have a case that would require assistance in any of these areas of law, a referral can be given to you so that you have the convenience of taking care of all of your legal matters in one office.

EXPERIENCE

Stephen I. Beck is a sole practitioner who has been practicing exclusively family law since 1990 in the Region of Peel.  Stephen I. Beck obtained his BA from McGill University and his LL.B. from the University of Ottawa.  He was a director of the Peel Law Association for six years.

Stephen has completed Collaborative Family Law Training Courses and currently practices collaborative law.

Stephen has a wide range of experience in all aspects of family law including divorce, custody, access, support, pre-marriage contracts and division of property.

Stephen has acted as counsel for the Region of Peel and the Ministry of Community and Social Services for the past fifteen years.

Stephen is a panel lawyer for the Office of the Children's Lawyer and has been acting as a Children's Lawyer since 2006.  As a Children's Lawyer he is an advocate for the children in family disputes and acts as their voice to express their wishes to the court.

Stephen is a Dispute Resolution Officer (DRO) in the Superior Court of Justice in the Region of Peel.  As a DRO, Stephen meets with parties involved in a family law case and reviews the facts and positions of the parties and provides an opinion and recommendations as to how he believes the case should settle.

FACILITIES

Courtroom - We have a private courtroom on location which can be used to either facilitate settlement discussions or it can be used for mediation/arbitration.

Boardroom - We have a large boardroom to conduct confidential meetings.
